Stressbusting – Five Simple Ways To Reduce Stress In Your Life
It doesn’t matter if you are the CEO of a multi-national, the prime minister, an office worker, self employed working from home, or someone who provides care for a child or elderly relative. Every one of us will at some time experience many stressful times and events.
Given the debilitating psychological and physiological harm that stress can do to an individual, finding ways to reduce stress levels in our everyday lives is crucial to develop a greater sense of wellbeing. Sure, your workplace may run Tai Chi in the morning but how effective is that if you are still worried about the relatives coming to stay for the weekend and the house is a real mess?
So here’s five simple things you can do which we believe will help you bust those stress levels, get your life back on a more even keel and lead to a healthier and happier you!
- Take a walk
The benefits of even just 10 minutes brisk walking in terms of helping alleviate stress, helping you achieve exercise goals and a greater level of personal fitness are already well documented. Whether you walk alone around the neighbourhood, or head out for a coastal walk somewhere spectacular with the dogs in tow, even just a brief wander can help make you feel better and refocus on what needs to be done.
- Get your house cleaned
House chores, such as cleaning and dusting are a real problem for many, not because they are difficult, but because they are so time consuming and eat into a significant proportion of your day. Why not instead hire a reputable house cleaning company to come in once or twice a week and do the cleaning for you. For a relatively small cost, you’ll free up heaps of free time and also have a sparkling house for you, your friends and family to enjoy.
- Head to a local Spa
Spa days are growing in popularity and it is not difficult to see why. Get those knotted muscles relaxed with a lovely massage and with a whole range of other treatments available which can detox your skin and relax your body and mind, it is so easy to see why these relaxing breaks are wildly popular.
When your stress levels are hitting their peak then perhaps a gentle walk might not be enough. In this case, exercise can have great benefit. Better still, enjoy a spot of boxercise and you not only get a fantastic workout, but you can take out all your frustrations on that punch bag, rather than your boss. It’s a win/win situation!
- Make a plan and stick to it
Confronting what is causing you stress head on is the best way to alleviate it. So if you have an issue causing stress, then you need to speak with those that are causing it and develop a workable solution to the problem. Even if your issue cannot be resolved quickly in one meeting, knowing you are taking steps to resolve it will help reduce your stress levels greatly and will help those contributing to your stress help you deal with it more effectively.
